Aluminum Pan Flowers

This is a great way to recycle old materials!   Use an old disposeable aluminum pan from the holidays to make this fun wall art!  Be sure to wear gloves – the foil can be sharp! 1)  flatten pans using a rolling pin or glass by running them across the pan.  Cut sides if needed to flatten.  If its a deep pan, save the corners, as they make good inner petals.  2)  Cut a cardboard template for your flowers.  Piece it together to see if you like your design before cutting.  3)  Once you have the template, place it on the flattened foil, trace with an erase-able marker (no sharpies) or indent the outline with a pencil.  4)  Carefully cut out the petals.  Inner petals should be smaller. 5)  Paint them the desired colors.  We used a rust color and brown, brushed on the edges to create a “rust” effect.  6)  For some flowers, you can use a soda can for the center.  Cut off the top of the can by carefully puncturing it, and cut around the top.  7) Remove the top and cut straight lines down to the bottom (See large flower, Yellow stripes).  8)  Once cut, fold the straight lines outward to make the center.  9)  Using a glue gun, assemble the flowers.  Its best to glue them on a round cardboard base to give the aluminum structure some support.

10)  Add a hanging string by hot gluing a loop of Ribbon to the back of the cardboard backing.
